DUA Events

Augustus Consulting’s Decolonized University of Africa (DUA) is an initiative aimed at the epistemic decolonization of the African continent. DUA is the continent’s only decolonized, Africanized, free, online university. For more details please visit: www.augustusconsulting.co.za

Faculty of African Languages (AfLAN)

AfLAN has 2000 departments (Each department to be headed by a chairman, and the faculty to be headed by a dean)

AfLAN vision- ‘African languages are the foundation for an informed, confident, peaceful and prosperous continent’

AfLAN mission‘To protect and promote African languages’

AfLAN philosophy: ‘African languages are the key to unlocking indigenous African knowledge.’ Indeed, indigenous African languages form the foundation for development and sovereignty in Africa. AfLAN is Afrocentric; therefore, all teaching and research at AfLAN will be conducted in the 2000 African languages (certificates, diplomas, and degrees will be awarded at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels—BA, MA, and PhD). AfLAN is the flagship faculty of DUA, serving as the epistemic foundation of the university. AfLAN will translate all books used in other faculties, such as African Philosophy and African History, into African languages so students can learn these subjects in their own languages. This initiative will pave the way for eventually conducting all teaching and research across the Decolonized University of Africa (DUA) faculties, such as Philosophy and History, in African languages. DUA aims to be an environmentally friendly platform promoting African languages. The ultimate goal is for all teaching and research at DUA to be conducted in African languages. Furthermore, all books and journals published by DUA Press across disciplines like History and Philosophy will be in African languages. Consequently, DUA will be the first and only university to teach all degree programmes in African languages. Thus, DUA will be a fully decolonised, Afrocentric university.

AfLAN motto/principles‘No African language left behind’ / ‘It takes a village to protect African languages’ / ‘Put African Languages First’ // ‘Umoja-Sisonke-Tiritose-Teranga – Together’ / ‘African Languages Matter’

AfLAN will also include various research centres and institutes. It will have departmental libraries for each of the 2000 departments, as well as campus-wide libraries such as the African Languages Library (ALL) and the African Languages Museum (ALM). As part of its community engagement, corporate social responsibility, and university service to the community, AfLAN will organise on- and off-campus events, including the annual African Languages Book Fair.
